Who’s a good dog?
In the early morning hours of Friday, May 25th, Lakeland Police Department officers were trying to find an 89-year-old woman who had been missing for about five hours.
The K-9 duo of Deputy Butler and K-9 Dasha were called in to assist in the search. They started by getting a scent, and off they went. The helicopter pilot notified the K-9 team that there was a heat source straight ahead of them, and Dasha tracked straight toward the heat source, and found the woman in thick brush, safe and unharmed.
It was a happy ending for the woman and her family, and emphasizes the great working relationship the Polk County Sheriff’s Office has with other agencies. However, don’t expect PCSO to be as kind when they play LPD in softball on June 2nd at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium, before the Lakeland Flying Tigers baseball game.
Dasha won’t be playing softball. She’s protesting because they sell wieners at the game and call them “hot dogs”.
