Welcome to the Polk County Sheriff's Office News Room, where the Public Information Officers (PIO's) post all of the information that they release to the news media. PIO's act as liaisons between news media organizations and the Sheriff's Office. The PIO's routinely release timely and accurate information and Crime Stoppers bulletins, and respond to routine and "breaking news" media inquiries. Preliminary information so far is as follows:
Around 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018, PCSO deputies responded to 607 NW 1st Avenue in Mulberry to conduct a well-being check on 58-year-old Tammy Butler, at the request of friends who had not spoken with her in several days. When deputies entered the home, they found Tammy obviously deceased inside. She lived alone.
Detectives are following up on leads at this time, but are seeking the public's help in this investigation.
If anyone has information about, spoke with, or saw Tammy Butler between Saturday, March 17th, and Thursday, March 22nd, or saw anything suspicious in the area, they are urged to contact PCSO at 863-298-6200.
