POLK COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE CASE #24-5554

The Polk County Sheriff's Office is investigating an animal abandonment case in Lakeland. 
The crime occurred on February 6th at around 1:30pm.

A witness said the driver of the pictured red & black SUV stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road, released a dog, and drove away--leaving the dog behind.

The dog is a male Maltese mix breed. We've included a photo of the good boy.

The two occupants of the SUV were described as two black females of unknown ages.
