11-03-2018 INFORMATION SOUGHT IN ATTEMPTED ARMED HOME INVASION

Nov 3, 2018
Media Contact : Carrie Horstman, PIO

Polk County Sheriff’s Robbery detectives are seeking the public’s help in an attempted armed home invasion that occurred in Auburndale.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018, the victims, who live in a residence on Alderman Road, were awakened by the sound of breaking glass and banging on the front door. Two unknown black male suspects were shouting "Polk County Sheriff!" and attempting to kick the front door in. When they couldn't gain entry to the home, they fled in an unknown direction.

The home is equipped with a video surveillance system, which shows two black males, both wearing ski masks and knit caps, and gloves. One suspect is armed with a black handgun, while the other is armed with two small handguns. They may have fled heading north to Smoke Road.

Anyone with information about this investigation is urged to contact Detective Goreck at 863-298-6914.
